From loss to life: our projects make it possible.
We focus on practical solutions that can be replicated and grown from within communities themselves. In Nepal, OBF is helping 80 women earn a living through four small enterprises—two producing leaf plates and two working with spices and turmeric. These initiatives do more than generate income; they build entrepreneurial and technical skills that stay in the community.
In Burundi, a cooperative producing soap now employs 20 people, including 9 women. With their earnings, members have bought land, expanded production, and even begun raising goats.
Each cooperative is designed to become self-sustaining—and once it does, it supports the creation of a new one. This ripple effect is at the heart of our model. We provide technical and vocational training, initial funding, and ongoing support until full independence is reached. After that, members manage operations themselves, reinvesting profits and sometimes even offering internal loans to help each other grow.
Because when the foundation is solid, small investments can lead to big, lasting change.

Maximizing Impact with Every Donation
Ninety-five percent of our funds directly support projects aimed at fulfilling OBF's mission. Our administrative expenses, comprising human resources, accounting, information technology, fundraising, and communication, amount to only 5 percent. This allocation falls well below the ZEWO average of 21 percent, underscoring our commitment to maximizing the impact of every donation received. -
By donating to OBF, a recognized public charity, you can claim a tax deduction of up to 20 percent of your income on your federal taxes. Similar provisions apply in most cantons. Rest assured, we will provide you with the necessary donation certificate by March of the following year.

Ensuring data protection is a top priority at OBF, and as such, it is a concern for all members and employees. We strictly adhere to stringent policies to safeguard personal information. OBF does not disclose addresses to third parties, nor do we engage in renting, selling, or exchanging personal data. Our practices align with relevant data protection regulations, notably the Federal Data Protection Act.
